Some factors will damage Chain Grate Boilers

Traveling grate boilers, also called chain grate boilers, are widely used in industries or hotel, hospital, university and other places to provide steam or hot water. A high quality of chain grate boiler is of high efficiency, low cost, energy saving, long serving life, low failure rate. But we may neglect some factors during operating them so that the boilers will waste more fuel or be damaged, even be dangerous for people. There are some factors we should avoid:

Chain grate traveling boilers

High speed running grate

Fuel amount of Chain grate steam boiler should according to the demand or capacity of boiler. If the Chain grate boiler’s capacity is larger, the feed coal will increase accordingly. At this moment ,the coal gate door will be fully opened and the grate speed should be increased. But when the heat demands is low, a higher speed will lead to lack of oxygen when the air volume is stable, which will lead to a waste of energy.

High water level
A higher level will increase its moisture of steam, which will effect the steam quality even damage the steam equipment and production. For industrial Chain grate boiler, more moisture the steam is, more salt it will contain. All these factors will probably effect the boiler efficiency and service life. The water level should be kept in the range of 50mm higher or lower than designed value.

Long blow-down time
A regularly blow down for boiler is needed. Discharging the slag deposit, dirt and corrosion products at the bottom of the boiler helps to reduce the furnace tube fouling and clogging and reduce the water salinity, enhance heat transfer effect. Blow down too long time will waste a lot of heat and affect the heating steam pressure of the boiler. Generally speaking, we can blow-down every eight hours and not exceed 30s every time.
