A watertube boiler (also spelled water-tube and water tube) is a type of boiler through which water circulates in tubes heated externally because of the fire. Fuel is burned inside thefurnace, creating hot gas which heats water inside the steam-generating tubes. In smaller boilers, additional generating tubes are separate inside the furnace, while larger utility boilers depend on water-filled tubes that comprise the walls of the furnace to come up with steam.
The heated water then rises in the steam drum. Here, saturated steam is drawn over top of the drum. In certain services, the steam will reenter the furnace through asuperheater to get superheated. Superheated steam is described as steam that may be heated above the boiling point at the given pressure. Superheated steam is often a dry gas and as a consequence accustomed to drive turbines, since water droplets can severely damage turbine blades.

Watertube boiler Applications
“The ability of watertube boilers to create superheated steam makes these boilers particularly attractive in applications that requirement dry, high-pressure, high-energy steam, including steam turbine power generation”.
As a result of their superb working properties, the use of watertube boilers is especially preferred inside following major areas:
1.Various process applications in industries
2.Chemical processing divisions
3.Pulp and Paper manufacturing plants
4.Refining units
